I'm so glad you posted this, because I've recently come to the conclusion that I need to make the same mindset shift. I just started writing here on Substack about 2 weeks ago, and initially planned to post twice a week, but quickly realized that's not sustainable for me. Sometimes I almost feel guilty for choosing to focus on the process instead of the product, but if doing so results in higher quality writing and more piece of mind, then you're absolutely right that it's the best choice. I completely understand your feelings of guilt. It's so crazy, actually, that we have been conditioned to think that way, especially when it comes to our art. Writing is always going to take time, and our deep writing will most likely always be more fulfilling than our more content-focused writing, you know?
